Starting and finishing at Gare Hill this autumn’s Walk will be mostly in woodland to catch the autumn colours. Leaving the White Hart by car at 10.00 a.m. on 20th October, or 10.20 from Gare Hill, we will walk through woodland, beech glades and forest plantations on forest tracks and quiet roads. Expect the 5 mile route to be muddy and uneven on the forest tracks so bring good boots or wellies and walking sticks. The Walk will take a little under 3 hours getting back to the White Hart by 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome (at their own risk it must be said). There should be sufficient car drivers with spare seats to transport any walkers without cars from the White Hart. Parking has kindly been arranged at Gare Hill in front of the barns near the Forester’s house. Meet either at the White Hart or at the barn but if you don’t know where that is, wait at the road junction of the Bruton and Gare Hill hamlet roads at 10.10.
